Julia was introduced to yoga while in college at Virginia Tech. She was (and still is) an avid rock climber, and it was her friends in the climbing community who brought her to her first yoga class. Seeking a deeper practice and better understanding of yogic philosophies, she spent time in Seattle, Washington getting trained in the methodologies of SmartFLOW yoga. Julia has spent the last few years teaching yoga at climbing gyms on the east coast. She has made it her mission to use the principles of SmartFLOW to bring safe, accessible, and enlightening practices to her fellow climbers and those in her community. In addition, Julia has spent time teaching yoga and mindfulness classes to individuals in treatment for eating disorders, and her primary job is as a dietitian for Monte Nido, a residential treatment facility for adults with eating disorders. With the move to Rockville, MD for the job at Monte Nido came the opportunity to join the team at Senz as a yoga instructor. While taking class with Julia, you will be compassionately challenged to strike the balance of effort and ease, you will practice non-attachment in a safe and inclusive setting, and you will have the opportunity to learn how your yoga practice can reflect your movement in day-to-day life.
